As a celebrant, I’ve seen weddings in every season—but there is nothing quite like a Christmas wedding. It’s the magical time of year when love is in the air, everyone is in good spirits, and even the shyest uncle somehow ends up wearing tinsel.

One of my favourite things about Christmas weddings is how relaxed and joyful the atmosphere becomes. People seem extra cheerful, whether it’s the effect of festive magic or the mulled wine doing its job. And the décor? Well, even the simplest space looks like it’s been personally sprinkled by Santa’s interior designer.
Then there’s the ceremony itself. I love bringing in light-hearted touches—just enough humour to keep things warm and joyful, without turning it into a stand-up routine. Whether it’s a gentle joke about who’s been naughty or nice this year, or a reminder that love is the best gift under the tree, Christmas gives us endless moments to smile.

Being a celebrant during this season is truly a gift—one that doesn’t even need wrapping.
